Nearly two years ago and after a 10 year vacation from playing live music, life conspired to bring me back to its delights in a completely ”out of the blue” surprise, by playing bass in a pop band and now moving on to keyboards in a ‘Tribute Band’……It’s at this point I find myself connecting with the songs and music that I have written over the years with a renewed urge to get them out of my head and into yours.
The purchase of a new iMac in September for recording and writing has at last brought me into this century and although I have only just scratched the surface as there are many layers to ’Logic ’ – the recording program of choice – the results are very pleasing for me, more so as Simina brings them to ‘life’ with her free interpretation that fit my original ideas, I cannot underestimate her contribution and I am sure we are going to produce some interesting music together…….. It’s music still to be fine tuned for a final CD.
Music will continue to be added, with new material having a more acoustic feel. It will be interesting to see it evolve from the ‘Jarrish’ electro stuff (‘Storm Bright’ ) to more performance based electro/acoustic music
There are at the moment 5 songs sung by Simina all using the iMac and the now defunct Ensoniq keyboards. Written several years ago they have been revised to fit Simina, some extensively (I had a ball fooling around with the music tracks and purposely kept them simple in production) plus 1 older track, a ’Jarrish’ instrumental. Check out the radio snips on ‘Little People’ of the ‘Media Mogul’ having a battering and the final ‘Simpsons’ contribution. We also have an acoustic guitar and voice only track about to be recorded. These 6 song tracks will make up a promotional EP and will be freely downloadable (4 or 5 more tracks to be added for a final commercial CD, 2 of them halfway through being written and are a joint collaboration )……… The instrumental belongs to my electro period and Cubase running on ‘Sys 9′. and is being revised with words already written to try out as a song and could be on the site in a few weeks. So just press play on the Mp3 player….

Simina Gelder: A good friend and a marvelous singer, a young woman with a great deal of creative talent. She makes a major contribution so much so its starting to feel like ‘our music’ and not so much ‘mine’ and for me the nuts and bolts of recording, writing and making music together is a fascinating experience. It’s our aim to be experimental and innovative. To this end Simina is working on a song in her native tongue which is a language with a musicality of its own (and why not, if the folkies can sing in Gaelic and we have current dance hit that’s half in Spanish!!!) I am sure that there is much that we can accomplish.
We first met in a local pop band and now we both regularly perform in a Meatloaf tribute band (quite different to our music) see the link. Simina is also an accomplished solo singer working regular Saturdays around the local clubs, her performances are always well received and often with comments to embarrass X factor winners (it’s true and I should know I’m the road crew!)

Rodezi: is how its known at the moment but this could change as our ideas meld.
